Copernicus And The Trial Of Galileo

Galileo was brought to trail because of his support with the theory of Copernicus. Copernicus was a polish astronomer who brought up the theory of the earth and the other planets revolving around the sun. He used the scientific method to base his experiments and gathered facts to support it. Galileo also used the scientific method, and found that Copernicus' theory is very much true.

The many people who opposed it were the Catholic Church. They didn't believe in it and they didn't want to hear about it. The Geocentric theory came first, the Greek philosopher Aristotle had stated it. Unlike Copernicus and Galileo, Aristotle used abstracts thinking rather than the scientific method which is used to test out the theory and really experiment with it.

The Heliocentric theory was the theory that the Sun was the center of the whole solar system. Astronomer Copernicus had presented the idea with a well built mathematical equation to prove his experiment right. Years later, Galileo would do the very same thing except this time he can see the proof with his very own eyes. Galileo constructed a telescope which allowed him to see out the earth and into the sky. The heliocentric theory had been produced by the scientific revolution.

The Catholic church put Galileo on trial because of him thinking about something that defied the church. Galileo believed in his religion but at the same time he believed that the truth about the universe would be uncovered if only someone could have proved it. He also believed the theory of Copernicus, which angered the Catholic Church. The Catholic Church had not believed Galileo because they did not even think of something that would defy god.
